Lisa McCune

Lisa was born on the 17th of February, 1971 and grew up in Perth, Australia. Knowing from a young age she was going to be in the entertainment industry she entered WAPA (West Australian Performing Arts) and graduated in 1990 at the age of 19 with a musical degree.

Moving over to Melbourne, after a short lived stay in Sydney when Lisa was awarded the Coles contract (Lisa starred on advertisements on television and in the newspapers), Lisa began her career. She missed out on a number of television shows, including "Newly Weds" but she finally secured the role of Maggie Doyle in Blue Heelers, even though she auditioned for the part of Ros Patterson. At the beginning of Blue Heelers, the cast and crew of the newly
formed show only believed that it would last for ten or so episodes. How wrong were they?

Lisa stayed on Blue Heelers for six years, leaving behind her musical career. However, so she couldn't be stereotyped as a TV cop, of a general television actor, Lisa also took part in many musicals throughout the breaks of the Blue Heelers filming Schedule. She stared in productions including "A Little Night Music", "Into the Woods", and "She Loves Me".

As she worked on Blue Heelers (She left mid-1999) Lisa made many friendships with the cast and crew. She became best-friends with co-star Martin Sacks, and met Tim Disney, her soul mate and husbund when he was working as the wonderful stand by props man!

Being on Blue Heelers also won Lisa many awards including three Gold Logies (1997-1999), Silver Logies (1996-1999), Most Popular New Talent Logie (1995), Variety Club Awards, and People's Choice awards!

Lisa is now set to staring in the stage version of 'The Sound of Music'. The production is fantasic and Lisa has given Maria new life - she's just stunning as this world known character!

Television

Lisa has appeared in a mixture of television shows, the most significant being Blue Heelers, for which she appeared as "Maggie Doyle" for roughly six years. "Maggie Doyle" was a very popular character, which, in a way was one of the reasons Blue Heelers was so popular, and still is. The character of Maggie went through many up's and downs, which Lisa portrayed extremely well. It evident that Lisa will be missed of the screen of Blue Heelers when her last episode screens in Australia early in 1999. Currently, her episodes are still being shown even though she has wrapper up filming.

Here is a list of the television show Lisa has worked on:

  • Television Unsolved Mysteries - unaccredited - 1993
  • Channel 7 - Blue Heelers - Maggie Doyle (1994 - 1999)
  • Homicide Special - 40 Years of Television (1996)

  • Movies

Lisa has appeared in two movies, 'Body Melt' (1993) and 'Inner Sanctuary' (1997). In both movies, she stared along side Brett Climbo and other great Australian Actors, but one point to remember is that Brett Climbo played "Robbie Doyle" - Lisa's' Heelers characters brother. In these movies, Brett played her lover!

Lisa has concentrated more on television and musicals then Theatre, however she did do a production at Caper's Restaurant called "Love Letters" with Martin Sacks.

    Musicals

Lisa has appeared in many musicals (all of which are listed below). Lisa was orginally going to go into musicals before she found work on 'Heelers, as she was trained as a classical signer. Also, one of the reasons she left Blue Heelers was to pursure other challanges, including working on a musical. She started work on "The Sound of Music" soon after leaving 'Heelers, and it will be traveling around Australia.
